Best Mattress Brands Reviews – The Best Selection For Your Sleep
Looking for a new mattress? Gone are the days of picking from a big stack of bland off white spring mattresses with no discerning characteristics or features. These days, mattress technology has gone through the roof, and provided us with dozens of different mattresses!
Choose DUX Bed, with it’s adjustable cranks, or Beautyrest, with their independent Pocket Coils. Even the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is getting in on the act with the Tempurpedic model, using the famous wine glass test to promote their mattress. With such a dizzying array of choices, it can be difficult to decide on a mattress. Thankfully the internet is here, and in this review, we’l give you the low down on what’s what in the mattress line.
Best Three Mattress Selection for Sleep
1. Duxiana Mattress DUX 818
This mattress comes with a very unique feature not found on other mattresses. It contains 2 hand cranks at the foot of the bed which, when turned, raise the middle portion of the bed upwards, creating a small “hill” in the middle of the mattress that supports your spine as you sleep, called the Pascal Personal Comfort Zone. This mattress uses 4 times as many springs as you’ll find in a normal mattress as well, giving you more adjustable comfort along with the DUX Bed “Xupport” technology (referring to the hand cranks).
Pros
-
Less back pain: Because you’re able to adjust the lumbar support on this model from mild, to moderate, to major, you can find the amount of support that works for you so you don’t wake up with a sore or stiff back.
-
No Gassing: When you first take your mattress home and unwrap it, you’ll often have that “New Mattress Smell” which is caused by dozens of potentially harmful chemicals. This is called “off gassing”. Fortunately, the DUX bed has very little off gassing.
-
No Heat: Even with additional padded top cushions, the DUX bed does not act like a heat trap, and very few people report having any hot-bed problems.
Cons:
-
Price: A Dux bed can cost upwards of 9,000 dollars. For some people, a bed that takes care of your back doesn’t help as much when it costs and arm and a leg.
-
Weight: Thanks to twice as many springs and hand cranks, if you want to move this bed you had better reach for a can of spinach.
-
Sagging: The DUX bed, despite its technology enhancements, can begin to sag after a while, just like most beds will over time.
2. Simmons Beautyrest Mattress
Simmon’s Beautyrest uses pocketed coil technology. Normally, bed springs are linked together in an innerspring design, so that each spring shares the load with other springs. But in a Beautyrest, each spring is isolated in a pocket by itself. This results in a much higher level of body conformity, as the bed easily contours to your body shape. Each spring is individually receiving only it’s own pressure.
Unfortunately, this also means that each spring wears out quick. Within a few years, your bed will sag to the point where you’re better off just sleeping on the floor. The other benefit to individual pocketed springs is that each one does tend to isolate motion, which is something this bed does rather well.
Pros
-
Intimacy: The individual pocketed springs allow for more comfortable repetitive movements, and generally doesn’t cause the entire bed to shake and squeak.
-
No off Gassing: There are very few of the toxic chemicals normally associated with the new mattress smell. What little off gassing occurs tends to do so quick.
-
Price: This mattress goes for as little as 1,500 dollars, depending on where you look. You can probably find cheaper, but this definitely isn’t bad.
Cons:
-
Sagging: This bed sags rather badly after just a few years.
-
No flipping: This bed is designed to work only on one side, and therefore you cant flip it over when it sags too bad.
-
Dust mites: Bed bugs and dust mites just love a Simmon’s Beautyrest. These pest can be hard to get rid of once they move in.
3. Tempurpedic Swedish Mattress
The Tempurpedic was originally developed by NASA to help cushion the remarkable G forces experienced by pilots as they take off into orbit. This technology was released to Swedish companies, who then modified the materials to be used in hospital settings. Doctors found that patients who must lay in one place for long periods of time had far fewer complications if they slept on a tempurpedic mattress.
This technology was then commercialized and shipped back to the United States and across the world as the Tempurpedic Mattress. As advanced as this technology is, it’s not perfect.
Pros
-
Less Pain: Sleeping on a Tempurpedic memory foam means the bed contours perfectly to your body’s shape, resulting in fewer points of pressure on bones and more alignment in your body’s skeleton.
-
Motion Isolation: If you remember the commercials of a man jumping up and down on a Tempurpedic mattress next to a wine glass, this is what we mean by motion isolation. You can do jumping jacks on the bed while your partner next to you is asleep.
Cons:
-
Off gassing: When you first unpack this model, place it in a room by itself for 3 to 5 days and don’t go near it. The toxic chemicals will eventually disperse and the bed will be safe to sleep on, but a few days of letting it air out first is a good idea.
-
Price: A Tempurpedic is not the most expensive bed you’ll purchase, but at close to 7,000 dollars, it’s still very expensive.
